I AM…
“I am are two powerful words, however, what you put after them shapes your reality.”
-Unknown
The phrase “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” is the greatest lie ever told by those who use it, including myself. Words are extremely powerful and can cause just as much harm as any other form of abuse. Both words spoken by others and by oneself can be detrimental to one’s future and mental state. This has not always been my understanding. In fact, it was not until recent years that I have begun practicing positive talk to others and self-talk. This has been a fairly easy task to do when it comes to others, yet proves to be difficult when it comes to self-talk. Especially during this pandemic, when it feels like my productivity is non-existent.
I heavily rely on the Proverbs scripture that reminds us that our words are indeed powerful and, therefore we should treat them as such. Like Proverbs 16:24 “Kind words are like honey-sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”. It is a reminder that our words should be sweet, encouraging, true, healing, and ultimately bring life and blessings not death and curses.
The use of the right words can get one far, however, in that same instance, the use of the wrong words can set one back, and/or eradicate any progress they may have made. I purposely created the “I Am” tee for this reason. I wanted people to go through their wardrobes, see this piece of merchandise and say to themselves “I am created purposefully.” The power of those words could help someone make it through another day. It could remind someone that they have a purpose. They can cause someone to see their value again. They can help someone choose life over death.
The “I Am” tee is simply an affirmation in your wardrobe. Affirmations are a great form of positive self-talk. As a believer, I affirm myself with the Word of God daily. I do this by reminding myself of God’s promises to me. Promises like I am a lender and not a borrower, I am forgiven, I am a child of the King, I am more than a conqueror, I shall live and not die and there are many more. I also affirm myself with basic life-giving words. Affirmations like I am beautiful, I am strong, I am intelligent, I am purposed, I am a trailblazer, I am different and that is okay, and many others.
When you come to the understanding of just how powerful your words are, you become cautious of how you speak. This website has been a goal of mine for some time now. Fear has been the hardest hurdle to clear, and although I am extremely scared to be doing this, I have had to tell myself fear is not my DNA (positive self-talk goes a long way). Now, we are here. This launch is just the beginning of what I believe God has in store for SLCreations. With His help, I believe this is going to be a beautiful adventure and that this will become a safe place for all that need it. Let’s build!!!
Peace and Blessings,
